I use Hostgator as my web host.  I think it would be accurate to say that it is pretty awesome.  Like a lot of people I started out with GoDaddy.  I was on a shared server and I kept adding site after site to subfolders and pointing to the subfolders.  And then one day my sites stopped working.  GoDaddy was not quick in it’s resolution of this problem and so I made the jump to Hostgator.  I have had no major problems since and the few minor problems I’ve had were resolved very quickly.

I don’t personally use the shared hosting packages but the Baby Package looks like a very good deal.  For $7.95/month you get CPanel.  CPanel is great.  Let me say that again, CPanel is GREAT!  You won’t ever want to use any other interface to your server.  If you are currently with GoDaddy, their interface sucks.  I’m not trying to be mean, it’s just a fact.

My own personal choice for webhosting is the Aluminum Reseller Package.  It’s the least expensive and for now it serves all my needs.  For $25/month you get 25 Gigs of diskspace and 250 gigs of bandwidth.  A reseller package is ideal if you have many sites to manage but can’t afford a dedicated server.  You get access to the Web Host Manager (WHM) software and can create as many accounts as you want.  The WHM is an excellent interface for managing multiple accounts.  The definite advantage of having a reseller account versus a shared account for multiple sites is that if one site has a massive spike in traffic one day (via a fark link or digg) then your entire network won’t be brought down.  Only the one site and you can just increase that site’s bandwidth quota to compensate.  The major advantage of a reseller account over a dedicated server is that I want to be an internet marketer, not a system administrator (I can do that at the day job if I want).

Hostgator even offers Dedicated Hosting, if that is what your needs are.  I don’t know much about the Dedicated hosting packages.  Looking over the specs, it looks like the machine on the basic package is a bit lightweight but the other three packages look like good deals.  You also get well over a terabyte of bandwidth to work with.  One advantage the dedicated packages have over the other plans is Windows Hosting.  If I had a .NET application to deploy and I was going with a dedicated server then it’s good that hostgator has this option because they are just a good company to work with.

Finally, the best part if you are starting out with shared hosting: using the wordpress coupon code, you get your first month for just 1 cent.  You cannot do better than that.

Jamie Lynn Spears Pregnant Again.  This is from the National Enquirer and normally I would say consider the source but they were right the first time.  Her first child is only three months old but I guess she wants to move fast to secure her spot as white trash queen or something like that.  She’s only 17.
Have you watched her show Zoey 101?  Its boring.  Even for a tween show it’s boring.  It’s clear that the rest of the cast didn’t like her.  I won’t let my daughter watch it because it is so bad (she likes iCarly better anyway).
This story has yet to be confirmed by major media outlets but that coulc change at any moment.  I think Jamie Lynn Spears is Pregnant again and another young life is ruined before it has a chance.

Tonight is the season premeir off Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2.  I’ve been looking forward to this for awhile.  I was worried that they would wait until January to start the second season and I am pleased they have gone ahead this early.  I have it tivod and will watch it later.

Last year, I tivoed the first four episodes of the Sarah Connor Chornicles, mostly out of curiosity.  I wasn’t real excited about watching it, I’m usually not that excited about network TV.  However, one night I couldn’t sleep and so I started watching the first episode.  It blew my freakin mind.

I hadn’t been this exicited about Terminator since I saw the first one for the first time.  Granted, I was 5 when the first one came out but it was a favorite of my youth.  I really liked the second one but it hasn’t aged as well for me.  The third one sucked, most likely because Arnie was phoning it in and Nich Stahl just sucks.

So I can’t wait until I have a chance to watch Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2.  Stuff is starting to pile up in my tivo queue.  I still have to finish Generation Kill and Feasting On Waves started yesterday.  so much to watch, so little time.

What a difference just a couple of days makes.  It seems that Sarah Palin’s VP run is blowing up on the launchpad.  Who knows though, maybe the McCain Campaign will soldier on with her regardless.
For starters, there is the so called troopergate scandal.  She fired Alaska’s public safety commissioner, Walter Monegan, because he refused to fire a state trooper who was Palin’s former brother in law.  Palin claims he was fired for failing to fill vacancies, whatever that means.  Why he was fired and her guilt or not of wrongdoing is immaterial.  Why the hell would McCain want to bring this onboard his campaign.  It’s not like this broke yesterday, it has been ongoing for a while now.
Secondly, her 17 year old daughter is pregnant.  In and of itself, this is not a big deal.  It happens.  The problems start because this was the story the campaign put out to deflect the rumors that Palin’s four month old son is actually her grandson.  I think the rumors are just rumors but they chose to dignify them with the response that it couldn’t possibly be true because her daughter is five months pregnant now.  Even better, this is being used to shore up anti abortion, evangelical votes.  It’s a great talking point that her 17 year old daughter is pregnant, but is keeping the kid and marrying the father.  So while the Obama camp is bending over backwards to keep this out of the discussion, McCain is tripping over himself to campaing on it.
Third, she was for the “bridge to nowhere” before she was against it.  No surprise here, she was very much in favor of bringing in lots of money via congress until it was a scandal that could affect her chances of winning an election.
Fourth, as recently as ten minutes before running for mayor of Wasilla she was a member of a Pro Seccession political party, advocating for Alaska to leave the union.  You may or may not have an opinion on Alaska’s statehood (I don’t, I didn’t even know it was an issue until this morning) and she is certainly entitled to hers but again, why would the McCain camp want that anywhere near their campaing.  Could it be that they learned about it from ABC News just like I did?
All this leads to one question: did the republicans, McCain, or any of his people do any research at all on Sarah Palin?  It looks increasingly like they did the bare minimum when vetting her.  McCain himself has said that the process was very thorough.  It seems more likely that they chose whatever ultra right wing woman who looks good on camera they could find to get all the Vagina Americans (thank you Daily Show) to vote McCain in November.  If the vetting process was so thororough, why didn’t they seem to know that six months worth of scandals were going to hit during the long weekend before the convention?  Why is Cindy McCain going on National TV saying the proximity of Alaska to Russia makes for good foreign policy experience (why does that McCain campaign have so little control over the candiates spouse that she is allowed to say shit like this)?  Why is Palin’s resume being padded with her tenure on the PTA?
The republicans are already in trouble this week.  Hurricane Gustav was going to hit New Orleans, this close to the three year anniversary of Katrina, right in the middle of the Republican convention.  RNC spinners lept into action and it seemed like McCain would be giving his acceptance speech with New Orleans in the background.  Gustav dropped to a category 1 before making landfall though and it was a non event (politically anyway).  Personally, I felt like the Republicans had nowhere to go but down on this one.  If Gustav was Katrina redux then McCain would be polling in the 20s very shortly.  If New Orleans survived a category 5 then they would get a bump, maybe.  Instead, they got a “performed as expected” and the focus remains on Palin.
Palin was mayor of a town smaller than my high school, governer of a state the size of Little Rock, and has no experience pertinent to being President.  She brings nothing to the table for McCain.  However, McCain can no longer claim that Obama is not experienced enough.  It was a bad choice.  It’s all good from my end though.

The Dolly Parton Lyrics to Act  Like a Fool

You make me act like a fool
You treat me mean and cold and cruel
You make me do things that I hate to do
Why do you make me act like a fool?

We are of course referring to the internet here.  Today rumors of Dolly Parton’s death are running rampant.  Who comes up with this shit?  Apparently at a high school football game on friday it was announced “erroneously” that Dolly had died.  Damn kids.  Anyway, by today the rumor was widespread that she had died of congestive heart failure.

Her publicist had to scramble to declare her alive and kicking.  Still, I bet for years after this people will truly believe that Dolly Parton died “a few years ago.”

The other night I was watching Hannah Montana, er, I mean, my daughter was watching Hannah Montana and she was on along with Vicki Lawrence.  This morning, I logged onto my computer and saw that she was dead and I though, well that was spooky.  Alas, the internet had once again made me its bitch.  Luckily we have Dolly Parton Lyrics to help us through the Heartache.

The cast for Season 7 of Dancing with the Stars was announced this morning on ABC’s “Good Morning” with a few surprises. Mainly, reality TV celebutante Kim Kardashian — who had been rumored for days to be on the show — actually suffered an injury (she cut her foot on Sunday night, but it was not severe enough to keep her out of the competition.)

“I will be able to dance,” she proclaimed! Whew, wouldn’t want to disappoint the male viewership.

Here is the list:

Kim Kardashian, reality TV star

Cloris Leachman, Oscar-winning actress (wow, that’s a longer fall than Shirley Jones)

Maurice Greene, Olympic sprinter,

Lance Bass, former N’ Sync star

Rocco DiSpirito, TV chef

Warren Sapp, NFL star

Misty May-Treanor, Olympic beach volleyballer

Toni Braxton, Grammy award-winning R&B star

Cody Linley, that cute kid from “Hannah Montana” show

Ted McGinley, veteran actor (who has his own category on Jump the Shark)

Brooke Burke, actress/TV personality

Jeffrey Ross, celebrity hanger on not even famous enough for I love last night or the 30’s or whatever

Susan Lucci, “All My Children” star

Dancing with the Stars premieres at 8 p.m. Sept. 22 on ABC-TV, followed by a performance show on Sept. 23 and the first results show on Sept. 24.  I won’t be watching this garbage of course, but for the benefit of my readers who enjoy such things I put this here.

My wife wants a hybrid electric vehicle.  she wants a prius like my dad’s.  I want one too but mostly because they are pretty cool.  However, with gas about a gazillion dollars a gallon we would do well to have two of them though right now our Hondas get good milage and we have them both paid off.  I would guess that the payment on two hybrids would be more than what we would save in gas.

Did you notice that gas prices are dropping?  Almost 40 cents in the last month where I live.  It’s bullshit though.  We are supposed to feel grateful to pay 3.60/gallon just because it used to be $4.  It was about .90/gallon ten years ago and inflation being 3% it should only be about 1.50/gallon now.  Damn opec, damn hummers, damn greedy oil company assholes!  If we all drove hybrid electric vehicle then gas prices would plummet which would mean people would start buying hummers again, blah blah blah.  What we need is an electric hummer.

First Bernie Mac and now Isaac Hayes.  It’s been a sad week for the entertainment industry.  Isaac Hayes was the man.  In Shaft Isaac Hayes wrote the soundtrack.  Watch Yo Mouth.  I’m talkin bout shaft here.  I can dig it.  Shaft was an awesome movie.  Richard Roundtree nailed the role and Isaac Hayes’s song lent the perfect atmosphere to the movie.

More recently than Shaft Isaac Hayes was known for being chef on South Park.  Chef was probably the most memorable character in the whole show besides Cartman.  It’s too bad about the way he left though but while on the show he gave and he gave to the pop culture lexicon.  Love Gravy!

Isaac Hayes’ funeral will take place in the city where Hayes first became a well known name, Memphis, Tennessee. On Monday morning and afternoon, Hayes will be laid to rest. Memorial services will officially be held in Cordova, Tennessee, from 11 AM to 2 PM. It will take place at Hope Presbyterian Church at 8500 Walnut Grove.

As Isaac Hayes’ funeral is being set up, the Hayes family has set up areas where fans and well wishers can pay their respects. The Hayes family has asked that donations be sent to the Stax Music Academy in Memphis, in lue of flowers. Hayes had been a tireless supporter of the Stax Music Academy and Stax Records in life.

With the funeral in place and donations set up, one last mystery in the Isaac Hayes death saga is the cause of death. Hayes was found unconscious at his home lying next to his treadmill, and died an hour after being taken to the hospital. Now, although an autopsy is not yet complete, doctors are ready to say that Hayes died of a stroke.

The news has not been made official yet by a medical examiner or by the Memphis health department. However, Hayes’ family physician, Dr. David Kraus, was reported to have filed paperwork that lists Hayes’ death as being caused by a stroke. All that Hayes’ relatives had to say on the subject was that Hayes was under a doctor’s care before his death.

Shelly Malil, see playing Haziz in The 40 Year Old Virgin, was arrested yesterday in San Diego allegedly for stabbing his ex girlfriend over 20 times.

Malil appeared in The 40 Year Old Virgin as well as numerous television roles over the past 13 years.  He appeared in an episode of my favorite show Scrubs for about 10 seconds as a bartender who thinks Turk is Indian.

Malil showed up at to his ex girlfriend’s home in San Marcos where an altercation between the couple took place. The unidentified woman was stabbed an estimated 20 times. Sadly her children were at home at the time of the attack.

Neighbors heard the woman screaming and called police and an ambulance. The woman was reportedly taken to an area hospital where she was listed in critical condition with multiple stab wounds and cuts to her face.

Malil’s family members worked with police investigators to capture the fleeing actor, who boarded a train and reportedly headed to meet with his lawyer. He was apprehended and removed from the train at Oceanside depot on Monday evening after agreeing to surrender. He is being held in the San Mateo Sheriff’s Department jail.

According to TMZ.com the woman’s name is Kendra Bebee.

George Lucas just can’t quit.  Not that I am complaining of course.  Not about this anyway.  It’s just, well he knows dammn well that I can’t help but watch and yet he has interest in even fufilling my expectations.  And so here comes Star Wars: The Clone Wars.  Meh.

I was never a full on Star Wars fanboy.  My brother was though the doctors assure us he is fully recovered.  However, I have always liked the original trilogy.  I had been looking forward to the new trilogy ever since I had first heard the rumors ten years before the Phantom Menace came out.  And then  of course came Jar Jar.  Attack of the Clones wasn’t bad and Revenge of the Sith came close to  redeeming him but they could have just done Revenge of the Sith and everything would have been groovy.

Is there anything in this post that hasn’t already been said in the last ten years though?  Probably not.  And now here comes The Clone Wars to the big screen.  i think its funny that only Christoper Lee and Sam “Motherfucking Snakes” Jackson were asked to voice their characters while Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman either have better things to do or George Lucas is done with them.  Natalie Portman may actually be famous enough that she is too expensive though and also her one asset, her hotness, would not do much good in voice over.

I’ll probably rent this when it comes out on DVD at Christmas.  I like to take advantage of a good sale.
