I was stunned when I just read that Bernie Mac was dead. He was only 50 years old. Hell, my dad is only 52. He died of pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital. That’s unreal that anyone could die from pneumonia in 2008. I had heard a couple days ago that he was sick but didn’t think anything about it. Too many people die too young.
I won’t lie, I was not an enormous fan off Bernie Mac. I did like his work in Ocean’s 11 though, I like that movie. I didn’t not know much about his stand up though I did see the Kings of Comedy a few years ago and thought it was pretty funny. I respect that he was some guy out there just trying to make a living for 20 years when all of a sudden he had the success he had been pursuing his entire life. It’s like Rodney Dangerfield who sold alluminum siding for 20 years before trying comdey.
Like I said, he died too young. I hope I live past 50, I’ve got a lot of other people in my life hoping I do to. Tim Russert was only 58, John Ritter was 55, Heath Ledger was 28, Kurt Cobain was 27, Tupac Shakur was 25, James Dean was 23. The list goes on. Bernie Mac will be missed.
