Or whatever the hell you want to the latest Brendan Fraser movies to hit the big screen. Brendan Fraser seemed like he showed a lot of promise when he was younger with movies like School Ties and The Scout but he also did Encino Man. I’ll go to bat for him on this one, we all do things for the money when we’re younger that we’re not proud of and we wouldn’t ever tell our kids about. However, it seems now that it was just a preview of what his career had in store.
He still does take on a nuanced role that requires actual acting like The Quest American but he also does Mummy 3: How much more money can we squeeze out of this and GI Joe : It’s cool when things go Boom! I will say this though, I love him in those three episodes of Scrubs he did or maybe I just love those eps of Scrubs, either way they are far better than anything Brendan Fraser Movies.
The Mummy franchise has sunk so low, after three sequels and a spin off, that almost everyboedy who ever appeared in one of the movies has declined to return. Only Brendan Fraser and John Hannah have now appeared all three and while John Hannah has found steady work as a character actor I don’t fault him for taking whatever paycheck comes along. Fraser is a leading man though. He doesn’t need the money that bad. Aren’t those Airhead residuals keeping him comfy? I’ll go out on a limb here and say that the majority of Brendan Fraser movies suck.
Even Rachel Weisz did not come back. She was replaced by Maria Bello (who probably needs the work more anyway). Weisz does some prestige flicks such as Enemy at the Gates and The Foutain also does Brendan Fraser Movies (I’m coining a new phrase) such as Constantine and Fred Clause (Seriously?!). I guess if I go through life expecting anything from Hollywood I am just headed for disapointment.
I hope the judge judy set has lots of earthquake insurance. Judge Judy was in the middle of taping an episode of the hit show Judge Judy when yesterday’s earthquake in California hit. At first Judy looked like she was just annoyed that her proceedings were being interrupted. This attitude quickly changed to every judge for herself as she ran away from her desk towards safety. Quickly the entire “courtroom” was making a mad dash for the exits as security guards tried to maintain order.
The plaintiff and defendant stood there looking confused, not a good posture to assume when standing under 100 pound set lights. It is however what you would expect from someone who chose to try their case on judge judy rather than in a real courtroom. I wonder if they have earthquake insurance.
It’s too bad that we need different kinds of insurance. I don’t live in a flood plain so I don’t have flood insurance but if myhouse ever did get flooded my homeowners would not cover it. The same goes for earthquakes. You would think that a homeowner’s policy would cover earthquakes if you lived near a freaking faultline but no, you need earthquake insurance. Insurance companies are only in business to screw us over.
Anyway, my side rant is over. Seeing the Judge Judy earthquake footage was hysterical. That’s the kind of thing I live for. I wonder if they’ll air that episode or not or what will they do? Anyway, that is what I’ve got for today.
Shia Labeouf, star of Transformers and all around mediocre actor, apparently can’t complete a simple task such as driving drunk. This stands to reason though. His other runins with the law seem so penny ante, so half assed and pussified that you have to wonder if maybe they’re not just part of some carefully cultivated “Bad Boy” Image that is all the rage in hollywood these days. I’m not saying he crashed on purpose, I’m just saying that it falls in line with his pattern of being a dipshit.
Shia Lebeouf was taken to the hospital and had to have extensive surgery on his hand and he was also treated for injuries to his head and knee. Another unamed party wa sseen crawling from the wreckage by witnesses, possibly a Shia Labeouf girlfriend. She was treated for minor head injuries. After surgery Shia was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, i guess its a misdemeanor if you only hurt yourself.
The Shia Labeouf movie Transformers 2 will suffer without the presence of its star for about amonth according to representatives of the actor. It’s arguable that all shia labeouf movies suffer more with the presence of the actor. Seriously, have you seen Transformers? The nervous puppy thing works for a couple minutes but after awhile I just want to take him back to the pound and get my money back. And I just don’t see Megan Fox falling for him no matter how emotionally needy she is. He’s a complete douche.
Anyone who has ever seen Shia Labeou pics could tell you that he is a wimpy looking guy. He looks like the sort of 22 year old jackass who will go out and have a couple green apple martinis and flip his truck on the way home. Just another hollywood asshole thinking that the rules don’t apply to him. Whatever, he got off lucky it was only his hand that got hurt and not his pretty little face.
Barack Obama Dreams from my Father, yes we can, you’ve heard it all. The primary is months behind us and the general election is months away. I’m not as excited about politics as I was in May and not as excited about them as I will be in the fall. However, I will say that I am going to vote for Barack Obama. The main reason is that he inspires me. Politicians in recent years have resorted to “Vote for me because my opponent sucks” to get the vote out. Consequently I’ve been fairly disillusioned with politics in general. In 2004 I voted for Kerry but only so I could vote against Bush. Then Bush won and it seemed like things were just getting worse and worse. I was heartened when the Democrats took back congress in 2006 but the politics were more of the same. And I haven’t exactly been inspired by the democratic leadership over the past two years.
I read Barack Obama Dreams from my father and The Audacity of Hope recently. I’m inspired by Obama because he says to the people, come with me and we’ll make the world a better place. You can tell that he genuinely wants to make the world a better place for our children and grandchildren. I have a new baby and I know that I want to leave the world a better place than I found it(Dan Savage Fans, campsite rule) and after 8 years of Bush I am overwhelmed with the idea that this is not a realistic dream.
Barack Obama Dreams from my Father and I want to leave my daughter with dreams to pass on to her daughters. I want to see health care become a right rather than just another way big business can screw us over. I want to know that if my child goes to war it’s because there are no other options and not because some people read 1984 as an instruction manual. Can Barack achieve all this. I doubt it. It’s not that I don’t think he is a good man, he is. But he is not the second coming he is not a miracle worker. However, of all the people that have run for president in my lifetime he might be the only one that truly believes the world can be a better place.
Yes we can.
Here’s an X File for you: do I even care about the new x-files movie opening today? I can’t seem to work up any more enthusiasm than “meh.” I was way more excited about batman last week but I haven’t been to see that yet either. I used to be all about some X File. I watched the show from day one until day…well, whatever day it was that they replaced Mulder with Doggett.
I didn’t see the first X File movie until about a year after it came out. I was working the midnight shift at a grocery store (the things we do for money in college) when it came out in theaters and wasn’t getting out to the movies as often as I wanted to at the time. I wasn’t doing much of anything other than working and sleeping. I didn’t like the first movie. I thought it was boring. But in the fall, I went right back to watching the show. The show was still awesome.
Part of me wants to return to the the old X Files characters I know and love. Mulder, Scully, it’s like revisiting my adolescence although I hate going to the movies and will probably just tivo it when its on HBO (or buy the Wal Mart Edition for $14). I can pretend it’s still a time when X files was awesome and I was still young (but only the good parts of being young). But here is another X file for you: Amanda Peet? WTF? Maybe it’s just me.
I won’t be going out to see the new X file movie. I’m sure that my ticket purchase will not be missed. There are a zillion fanboys anxiously waiting for a few good Scully cleavage shots that they can go home and beat off to. X Files is an institution and it will not want for box office revenue.
Matthew Broderick is cheating on Sex and the City’s Sarah Jessica Parker, to whom he has been married for 11 years. At least, that’s what that bastion of reputable journalism Star Magazine claims. If its true, I say, You go boy! As one blogger put it “Matthew Broderick finally realized he was married to Sarah Jessica Parker.” Now, I don’t condone infidelity. I remain quite faithful to my wife and will continue to do so. But a man has needs and as long as it doesn’t affect my own marriage I say go for it. Woman have needs to and the same rule applies. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s none of my business. I of course earn hypocrite points by writing about it here. I don’t care, do as I say not as I do. My favorite Matthew Broderick movie is Ferris Beuller followed by war games but I must say that the Producers sucks donkey balls.
I’m not sure why I am expected to care about the marital fidelity of Matthew Broderick or any other celebrity for that matter. Paying this much attention to a celebrity marriage and how faithful either one of them is gives the impression that their marriage even matters. It doesn’t matter at all to me but it barely matters to them. Matthew Broderick has been married to SJP for 11 years and that’s practically a lifetime in hollywood where most marriages seem to last 2 or 3 years. I’ve been married almost 5 years nows and will probably be married for 55 more at least and if I cheated on my wife then that would matter.
The other day John Edwards, former VP contender with John Kerry and a man whose name has been mentioned as a possible VP for Obama, was seen leaving the hotel room of Rielle Hunter a woman he is alleged to have not only had an affair with but also had a child with. The press, displaying is usual classiness, chased him into a public men’s room where he was forced to call security for an escort from the building.
Is John Edwards having an affair? Who cares? If a politician is having an affair I don’t care. If he’s not having an affair with some woman then he’s gay and I still don’t care. John Edwards seems like a decent guy, I voted for him and Kerry in 2004. He probably would have made a decent Vice President, far better than the guy who is in the slot now.
The press displayed its usual dickishness by chasing after John Edwards. And in the end only the gossip blogs and the Enquirer even published the story so I wonder if any of it is even true. And anyway let politicians have all the affairs they want. It’s between them and their spouses. Let them be gay all they want. It’s none of my business. We are a nation of prudes who want to simultaneously know all the juicy details and condemn the person we are being nosy about.
John Edwards may or may not be the father of Rielle Hunter’s child. Do I care? no and neither shuld you. As a politician all I care about is he going to fight for what I believe in. That is the sole criteria by which I judge a politician when deciding whether I vote for them or not. So next time you get a chance, vote for John Edwards, for something. I doubt he had an affair and I seriously doubt he went to get some nook nook from a woman that not only is it well publicized that they are having an affair but she was being stalked by the press to get some juicy pictures of John Edwards going to see her. He’s not that stupid and neither is she.
Welcome to the new and improved Extreme Sloth.
